Shepherd was diagnosed with Triploidy. This is where one has 69 chromosomes instead of the typical 46. We were told this would be fatal to Shepherd. Most babies with Triploidy pass in the 1st trimester. We knew then that he was a miracle baby and a fighter! We were devastated by the news, but chose to continue to carry Shepherd! We wanted to love him and celebrate his life for every single day that he was fighting to be here with us. On 11.21.23, I gave birth to our tiny but mighty little boy! Shepherd was born en caul, which means he was born inside his unruptured amniotic sac. We say he was born wrapped as a present to us since en caul births are very rare. This was another way of Shepherd showing us how truly special he is! Shepherd was 9.9oz., 10in., and born at 3:16 p.m. We say his time of birth is a “God Wink” to John 3:16. Although Shepherd was stillborn, John 3:16 provides great comfort as we look forward to eternal life in heaven with our baby boy, Shepherd Reed Styron. We Love You So Much, Shepherd!
