Dr. McDonough is an Associate Clinical Professor in the School of Nursing at Northeastern University’s Bouvé College of Health Sciences. She earned her PhD in Nursing from Endicott College, an MSN in Nursing Education from Framingham State University, and a BSN from Boston College. With extensive clinical experience as a labor and delivery nurse at institutions including Newton Wellesley Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and others, Dr. McDonough brings deep expertise in maternal-child health to both her teaching and scholarship.
Her research focuses on dyadic relationships, perinatal loss, improving care for families experiencing fetal death, and addressing postpartum depression and anxiety. She has published several peer-reviewed articles on these topics, including studies exploring the lived experiences of parents and nurses following fetal loss. As an educator, Dr. McDonough is dedicated to simulation-based learning, fostering safe and engaging classroom environments, and preparing students to deliver compassionate, family-centered care.
