North Carolina Triangle Area

About Our Chapter

The NC Triangle Chapter of Star Legacy Foundation was established in March 2026 and is located in the North Carolina – Raleigh-Durham/Research Triangle Region and supports surrounding areas. We are a team of individuals passionate about supporting families and medical professionals regarding all aspects of pregnancy and infant loss.  Our chapter is 100% volunteer run and we are always looking for new team members and greatly appreciate all of the volunteers we currently have.

Star Legacy Foundation Goals

  • Support families who experience any type of pregnancy or infant loss
  • Partner with the medical community regarding pregnancy and infant loss (free support materials, provide free/low cost education, etc.)
  • Raise awareness and provide education for safer pregnancy
  • Advocate for legislation that will support pregnancy and infant loss
  • Encourage families to participate in the Pregnancy Research Project

North Carolina Triangle Area Chapter Goals

Our goal in establishing a Star Legacy Foundation chapter in the Research Triangle region of NC is to build a compassionate, connected community that supports families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss while also increasing awareness and education to help prevent future losses.

A primary focus of our early work is family support. In partnership with UNC Rex Hospital, we have established a Bereaved Book Library that allows parents to read to their babies and take the book home as a keepsake. We hope to continue growing this program and explore opportunities to expand similar initiatives to additional hospitals within the region. We are also working toward developing other support items that can be provided to families during their hospital stay and at postpartum appointments following a loss.

Another important goal is increasing awareness and education around pregnancy health, fetal movement awareness, and infant loss and stillbirth prevention. We hope to collaborate with hospitals, OB-GYN practices, and community organizations to share educational resources and empower families to advocate for themselves.

In addition to hospital partnerships, we aim to build a strong local support network for bereaved families through peer connections, community gatherings, and awareness events. While online communities can be helpful, we believe there is great value in creating opportunities for families in the Triangle area to connect with others locally who understand their experience.

As the chapter grows, we also plan to support Star Legacy Foundation’s research initiatives by helping raise awareness about opportunities to participate in studies like Pregnancy Research Project and by connecting families and healthcare providers with resources that advance research in pregnancy and infant loss.

Through these combined efforts—family support, education, awareness, and research—we hope to create a meaningful and lasting impact for families in our community.

It is important to us that all families feel supported and welcome in this space. Please reach out to us so we can help meet your needs in the way you deserve.

Since stillborn babies tragically do not receive a Birth Certificate, many states offer a Certificate of Stillbirth or a Certificate of Birth Resulting in Stillbirth (this includes North Carolina Triangle Area).  Learn more about how to obtain a certificate for your baby/babies by clicking the link above.

North Carolina Triangle Area has a few important pieces of legislation including a stillbirth tax credit and paid family leave to include stillbirth.  If you would like to learn more about how to help pass these bills, please complete our volunteer form.

Star Legacy Foundation provides evidence based continuing education workshops on numerous topics pertaining to pregnancy & infant loss.

Chapter Needs

As the chapter grows, we hope to recruit volunteers to support key roles such as a Social Media/Awareness Chair, Champion Event Chair, Peer Support Coordinator, Hospital Liaison, and Volunteer Coordinator. These roles will help support outreach, family support initiatives, partnerships with local hospitals and OB-GYN offices, and the planning of awareness and community events. Our goal is to build a strong team of volunteers who can help expand the chapter’s impact throughout the Triangle community.
